    Responsibilities

    The Senior Product Engineer will serve as a technical expert and provide hands-on, technical support to operations for production issues, customer concerns and other product management activities. Acting as development and specific improvement projects lead, this position will collaborate on multiple projects as needed to meet product management initiatives. The position will need to be internally motivated, results-oriented and quality-focused, and have strong leadership capabilities. Direct experience commercializing a new product and strong project management skills are required with a Deep technical analysis of banknotes, Matching notes with industry manufacturing processes, Finding combinations unique to Crane giving us and advantage vs competition, Understanding of critical areas of banknote circulation and the product requirements of a central bank (on top of the technical specification), Component cost breakdown and cost engineering of banknotes, Detailed specification and verification issuance for new components and products, Customer issue analysis and resolution on product issues.

     

     

    Providing both the strategic and day-to-day business leadership in Product Management and Engineering through providing Banknote, printing process knowledge, expertise in raw materials, substrates and compounds, writing technical specifications and verification standards. Being thorough and demonstrating extraordinary attention to detail. Manage development projects for new features or product introductions. Provide strong banknote data analysis, decision making skills and effectively communicating conclusions to a variety of multiple audience through the organization and industry. Providing Competitive Engineering (cost, capability, invention, etc.) capabilities, accurate specifications and verification of new and existing products and oversee our complaint resolution process on key products.

     

    This position is ideal for an individual with experience supporting product management and working as an interface between sales and operations. Offering full accountability, this position will provide technical resource to operations for production issues.     • Provide technical insights for customer related product issues, new product development and production support by proactively influencing and leveraging abilities and experiences from prior roles to establish expertise in current products and processes.
    • Serve as a technical resource and second line manufacturing support. Support day-to-day production or quality issues when expertise goes beyond the capability of production. Support, guide, and mentor production process engineers and machine operators
    • Use of applied Chemistry and Physics understanding (inks, IR/UV, Magnetic, particles), establish comprehensive internal and external product specifications and standards.
    • Evaluate system readiness (QC, Ops, EH&S, etc.) to support new products. Define product KPI’s to meet customer and business needs.
    • Plan, track and manage product readiness and process capability.
    • Lead customer driven projects to extend technical capabilities and define custom configuration of products
    • Approve product design and process readiness from R&D as well as any product or process changes from Operations to support Banknote circulation specifics re fit/unfit and data flow.
    • Support Product Manager as interface between Sales and Operations to drive clarity of product issues. Basic business acumen knowledge in making business focused, financially minded and ethically-based decisions
    • Identify product cost improvement strategies based on component costs, yield, quality and uptime. Utilize data driven improvement strategies. Establish plans for improvement, organize resources as needed. Lead or support the project through to completion. Quality management and quality process development skills. Establish and follow procedures that ensure personal, co-worker and environmental safety

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or similar field
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience working in product development, Product Management or engineering support in a continuous manufacturing process
    • Proven high level of initiative with talent for anticipating and acting on next steps
    • Experience working on projects and processes to develop systems
    • Demonstrated ability in influencing and leading others without formal authority, while maintaining effective working relationships
    • Experience with statistical analysis
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Strong analytical problem solving ability
    • Competent in presenting complicated technical data and information in clear manner
    • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
    • Training in the following area is desired, but not required: Cross Functional Teams, Six-Sigma Solving Techniques, Lean Concepts and 5S
