Crane Currency is currently offering a full-time paid Co-Op for Process and Mechanical Engineer positions for the Spring 2018 semester in our Dalton, MA facility. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the delivery of the 2018 initiatives, goals and objectives.  The Co-Op will be a member of a team that supports manufacturing and operations within Crane U.S. Government Products.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work within cross-functional project teams to support Crane’s day-to-day pulp and paper manufacturing processes and optimize, troubleshoot, and continuously improve manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Develop technical knowledge around specialized processes and applications for raw materials pulping, stock preparation, paper making, process control, security materials handling, broke handling and finishing, as well as quality management system requirements, inspection technology, process documentation and corrective activity.
  • Use problem-solving and analytical skills, including data analysis and laboratory analysis, to assist in understanding and resolving operating or quality issues. Improve process capability while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Assist in developing a project plan and execute according to that plan.
  • Worked safely within a manufacturing and office environment and adhere to standard practices involving safety and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain open communications and positive working relationships with staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree at an accredited institution in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, or related major field of study.
  • Available to work a full-time schedule, 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical/problem-solving abilities and organization.
  • Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.

 

The person selected for this position will need to demonstrate suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust consistent with our US Government contract requirements.
