We're looking for a Quality Assurance Technician GR1 to join our team in Dalton, MA. In this position, you will play a critical role with an exciting organization known for innovative currency and banknote technology.  This is a rotating shift position.

 

The QA Technician ensures that material is of suitable quality and conformance to all applicable requirements. It is critical that numerous properties of stock, paper, and other manufacturing materials be within specification in order to produce a product suitable for shipping to the customer.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete physical testing on material comparing Company and customer specifications
  • Mix colors accurately following predetermined formulas
  • Complete series of color control testing
  • Perform shipment sample tests, advising the Finishing Department of any skids which are out of specification
  • Audit the product throughout the manufacturing process
  • Perform Equipment Verification Testing

  • Maintain 5S and safety compliance as well as maintaining appropriate levels of lab supplies

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; BS/BA degree preferred
  • Ability to operate and calibrate lab testing equipment
  • Ability to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to receive, analyze, and report out information accurately and efficiently
  • Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Capability to understand and follow operating/job procedures and work in a safe manner
  • Pass pre-qualifying tests in: basic computers, math, and written procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the quality requirements of Crane Currency products and processes, and his/her role in ensuring this quality
  • Ability to ensure quality requirements are met utilizing TAPPI standard test methods. Testing includes: raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Tests include, but are not limited to, Viscosity testing of raw and finished fiber, Basis Weight, Caliper, Density, Opacity, Mullen, Tensile, Tears, & Porosity
  • Good mathematical aptitude on paper, calculator, and Excel
  • Excellent problem solving skills, including ability to perform root cause analysis, and determine deficiencies, trends, or outliers in data

 

The person selected for this position will need to demonstrate suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust consistent with our US Government contract requirements.
