Crane is growing and we are seeking a dynamic Senior Quality Engineer to join our team in Nashua, NH.  The successful candidate will have the ability to facilitate and drive problem solving activities aimed at identifying and improving manufacturing, quality, and customer issues. Your strong understanding of quality and statistical tools, as well as experience in their practical application, will be imperative to consistently deliver work products that exceed expectations. In this role, you will interact and build cooperative working relationships with all departments, key customers, and other Crane divisions.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Identify and lead improvement projects targeted at top contributors to quality defects and variability.
  • Lead and support cross-functional failure investigations to identify root cause and corrective and preventative action utilizing advanced problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why, DMAIC, FMEA).
  • Lead and support customer discussions related to failures; often high priority and high visibility. Ensure timely and effective responses to customer issues where responsible.
  • Monitor and report key performance metrics related to quality.
  • Develop, Maintain and analyze internal quality metrics as well as data related to customer investigations.
  • Improve the performance and efficiency of overall quality by identifying adverse trends and developing improvement plans.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
  • Assist in the transition of products and processes from Research and Development to Manufacturing.
  • Participate in change review boards and materials qualification needs.
  • Manage the qualification of process controls, methods, and measurement systems.
  • Develop Gage R&R’s to ensure reliable test methods in place.


  • Minimum of six years’ experience in manufacturing and quality preferably in a chemical industry. Minimum of three years’ in a leadership role.
  • Strong and thorough knowledge of quality engineering disciplines, including:
    • Proven results in key continuous improvement methodologies, i.e. Lean, Six Sigma
    • Quality data collection and analysis (metric development and review)
    • Understanding of statistical methods, including population sampling, hypothesis testing, SPC, DOE, Gage R&R studies and Minitab
    • Measurement and Inspection methods & tools
    • Problem solving techniques such as 8-D, 5-why, Fishbone / Fault tree, PFMEA, K-T
  • Knowledge of technical and manufacturing concepts.
  • Skilled at Project Management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Member of ASQ and Certification as Engineer, Auditor, Lean or Six Sigma Black / Green belt is desirable.
