    Do you want to be a key team player with the fastest growing currency supplier in the world? Crane Currency in Nashua, NH is looking for a Research Scientist to support our R&D, Quality Control (QC), & Operations team. Drawing upon your expertise, you will participate in and support trials and experiments to analyze, interpret results, and draw sound conclusions for the development of test methodologies applied to and transfered to QC for Production tests. The ideal candidate will be skilled in laboratory analysis and the development of new methods in areas such as rheology, spectroscopy (visible, UV, IR, fluorescence), magnetics, microscopy and physical properties (tensile modulus, peel, etc.).     Key Responsibilities include:

    • Conduct research and experiments to provide lab analytics and interpretation of results. 
    • Support experimentation process from lab to pilot process to production readiness.
    • Be a technical resource to the R&D, QC and Operations team providing support in the application of security features.
    • Manage projects and day-to-day responsibilities using analytical tools (FRIR, DSC, DMA, rheology) and scientific principles to develop sound lab applications, processes and methodologies. 
    • Provide strong customer service response and technical support to other departments where technical expertise is needed.  
    • Conduct experiments in the lab and on production equipment for product and process development.
    • Be a creative, self-starter regularly applying curiosity, analytical skills and lab research experience to efficiently develop new processes using sound statistical techniques.
    • Maintain safety and environmental standards during the execution of projects, trials and experiments.

     

     


     

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Chemistry or similar field such as Material Science or Chemical Engineering with 6 years progressive experience in R&D, Adhesive Development & Process Engineering required.
    • Masters or PhD with 2 years progressive experience in R&D, Adhesive Development & Process Engineering preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage research projects and research teams through thoughtful facilitation and creative idea exchange in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
    • Must be an analytical, subject matter expert with strong lab and project management skills.
    • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes clearly to cross-functional teams.
    • Experienced with Six-Sigma Solving Techniques, Lean Concepts and 5S preferred.
