    Leadership is Currency at Crane

     

    As the Photonics Engineer at Crane Currency in Nashua, NH, your expertise and guidance in the defining, modeling, simulating, and experimentally validating of system level solutions will be a real asset in paper, print, and security feature integration for both Crane’s and competitors’ products. Your ability to connect elegant signal detection methodology with banknote integration will be essential.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Partner with R&D in support of novel machine readability feature developments including but not limited to infrared and magnetics.
    • Develop an understanding of common banknote detection systems to subsequently define system and component level requirements for banknote products.
    • As the subject matter expert on photonics, collaborate with formulation scientists to optimize signal detection while preserving product specifications.
    • Provide clear technical guidance on design integration, implementation of measurement systems, and integration with production quality systems.
    • Develop and conduct technical training and guidance for successful machine readable feature product implementation into paper or print.
    • Provide trouble-shooting support for technical issues and guidance.
    • Provide Product Management, Sales and on-site Customer support.
    • Develop presentation content for personal use or use by others in support of Sales team.
    • Train others supporting the product lines. 

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or related field; advanced technical degree desired.
    • Experience in systems integration of photonics detection, specifically infrared and magnetics machine readable features, and applicable measurement instrumentation strongly desired.
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a technical role.
    • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
    • Proven experience regularly collaborating with multiple stakeholder groups including manufacturing operations, sales, quality, R&D, and both internal/external customers to achieve high-level positive results.
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
    • Strong analytical ability coupled with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with external customers and develop successful, long-term relationships.
    • Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
