    We're currently looking for a Securtiy Control Officer to join our Security Department, based in Dalton, MA. 

    Responsibilities

    The Security Control Officer, stationed at the Control Room (Bay State) or (Wahconah), is responsible for monitoring and taking appropriate action on all alarm systems and for monitoring all activity inside and outside the mills according to security procedures, maintaining communication with the Security Officers, screening visitors/personnel to ensure no cameras, recording equipment, etc. are allowed on the property, verifying and checking in all persons entering and leaving the secured mills, and observing all video monitors. In addition, the Security Control Officer is responsible for taking all after-hour telephone calls for the sites. Security Control Officer responsibilities are constantly changing to meet the needs of the organization.

     

    • Monitor all alarms through the central alarm system, which covers many buildings and includes several hundred fire alarms, burglar alarms and supervisory alarms
    • Clear all outside visitor and/or outside contractors entering the secured mills, verify the existence of an Authorization Form and signed non-disclosure agreement, document their arrival/departure, provide them with badges and ensure they are properly escorted within the mill or grounds
    • Coordinate assistance for any alarms requiring emergency response and doing a follow-up to ensure that appropriate action was taken and the problem resolved
    • Communicate through use of the telephone, radio and paging systems with company personnel, the Police Department and Fire Station as needed
    • Observe video monitors and control cameras to maintain visual inspection of grounds and buildings
    • Diagnose and coordinate repair of any malfunctioning alarms
    • Advise Transportation of sanding and plowing needs during the winter months
    • Verify the proper disposal of production waste material
    • Communicate with the Shipping & Receiving Department, clearing all incoming and outgoing vehicles
    • Maintain accurate records on all activities in the Log Book and the Digital Security Office Call-In Log
    • Coordinate relief for gate persons, and maintain communication with them regarding their activities. (Note: Must coordinate with Group Leader)
    • Utilize computerized card access system as needed to verify the whereabouts of individuals in the secured areas
    • Use non-deadly force (e.g., physical confrontation skills) or firearms for self-defense or defense of another person according to Company policies
    • As this position requires the handling of highly sensitive correspondence and information, the incumbent must provide the strictest level of absolute confidentiality

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of three years security or law enforcement experience or an Associates or higher degree in Criminal Justice, Security or a related field
    • Certified as a Certified Protection Officer (CPO) by the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) preferred and can be substituted for the required experience above
    • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Class “A” firearms permit or a restricted Massachusetts Class "A" firearms permit, with the intention of obtaining an unrestricted permit within 120 days of accepting the position, and meet safety and firearms qualification requirements
    • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record in all road conditions
    • Ability to act quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergency situations
    • Ability to work well with people
    • Possess excellent communication skills
    • Ability to use good judgment
    • Ability to read, write, keep accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
    • Ability to learn basic computer skills
    • Must submit to and pass random drug testing on short notice
    • Must meet the physical requirements of the position

     

    The rate for this position is $24.73/hr. plus shift differential.
