    As the Optical Image Processing Engineer within the Technical Research group in Alpharetta, GA, you can take your career to the next level with us. Our company is a technology driven global business with high expectations for superior quality products. This position requires a dedicated focus on internal software projects related to image processing, image analysis, data capture, vision systems, mathematical modeling, camera systems, and optical research. This position will involve developing software algorithms to measure optical performance of complex micro-optic systems, simulate the behavior of the systems, and to model potential improvements to the systems. Qualities such as internally motivated and results-oriented, rigorous mathematical precision, strong coding and documentation skills, and strong  teamwork capabilities are integral in this role. You will also be responsible for helping to design state of the art micro optic security features for our clients around the world, and assist in developing the next generation of the technology.     Responsibilities Include:

    • Mathematically analyze and characterize the functionality of the micro-optic systems
    • Participate in and play a critical role in fundamental micro optic research
    • Develop new image analysis techniques to determine quality of micro-optic products in development and ultimately in production
    • Develop image analysis software with particular attention to accuracy, reliability, efficiency and ease of support
    • Develop new and modified software applications
    • Develop internal simulation software that is used to analyze and visualize micro-optic systems
    • Conduct mathematical and algorithmic analysis to support design process improvement
    • Develop new methods of micro optic design and construction using cutting edge methodologies
    • Program and automate interface between software and hardware systems related to customized research equipment
    • Develop custom user interfaces to streamline existing design process
    • Document technical and procedural process improvements
    • Develop next generation software interface for ever expanding micro optic technologies

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or electrical engineering (MS preferred)

    • Eight (8) years of experience in a software development, especially in computer vision or image analysis
    • Experience with computer vision systems a must
    • Knowledge of optics, cameras or image analysis techniques
    • Strong mathematical, and analytical skills
    • Experience with parallel computing, GPU computing, and processing large data sets
    • Experience with Matlab, Python, C, or CUDA C
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Willing and capability to learn new software and programming languages
