    Technology is Currency at Crane!

Crane is one of the world’s leading producers of currency and banknote technology. With a history that dates back nearly 250 years, Crane is now a fast moving international force in currency.  Integrating best-in-class technology, design and engineering, Crane develops innovative solutions of uncompromising quality for the International Currency Market.  Our award winning MOTION and RAPID (tm) technologies are the clear leader in counterfeit prevention and is featured on the U.S. $100 dollar bill.

Do you want to be a part of somethign bigger?  Something that impacts the World and each person in it as the same time?  The Research Technician will do just that by helping expanding the understanding of current products and technology in order to develop next-generation structures and products. A key function of this role is to make test samples of our film material, and rigorously study their visual and physical effects so that we can begin to optimize the design of new projects before scaling up into production environments.  This position will be tasked with the creation of the initial micro-optic samples – often by hand. The technologies used to create these samples are proprietary, and are created in-house.

We offer a competitive benefits package to full-time employees, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401k match and more.

    Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented Research Technician who loves a challenge and will not quit until successful. Many of the techniques require good hand-eye coordination and strict attention to detail. There is a lot of technique and dexterity involved, and there are often challenges associated with doing these techniques in a repeatable, measurable way. Because of the number of samples required, and the attention to detail inherent in our industry of making currency, a considerable amount of trial and error activities should be expected. As such, persistence is a necessary skill and the ability to handle 99 failures to accomplish one great sample. This is a Research position, and we will be trying a lot of combinations and permutations, and making sure we understand the results and interactions of each by isolating and separating the various parameters which can affect the outcomes. If this sounds like the right fit for you, we welcome you on our team. Fabrication of micro-optic samples by hand or by using proprietary equipment and techniques in a lab or cleanroom setting. The samples will be analyzed visually and physically in order to optimize their design and gain a greater understanding of the interactions of the micro-optic structures
