    We're looking for an Environmental Technician to join our team in Dalton, MA. In this position, you will play a critical role with an exciting organization known for innovative currency and banknote technology.  This is a day shift position located at our Wastewater Treatment Facility.

     

    The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, ensure the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Facility and to implement prescribed control strategies to maintain environmental process excellence and regulatory compliance. Work will be performed with a degree of independence under the direction of the Environmental Systems Supervisor.

     

    • Safely and effectively operate the wastewater treatment system, maintain process monitoring equipment and execute detailed standard operating procedures to ensure environmental process excellence and regulatory compliance
    • Prepare samples and perform basic laboratory analyses, prepare and maintain orderly and accurate records and make day to day operational decisions within defined parameters to meet the performance expectations and desired end results
    • Responds to all emergency calls and scheduled weekend assignments. Report all environmental and safety risks and actively participate in Continuous Improvement opportunities.
    • Supports environmental excellence and compliance activities, (ex. Environmental Management System, EHS audits, Hazardous Waste Management program)

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates degree in science, engineering or business preferred)
    • Basic mathematical skills
    • Possess basic knowledge of waste water treatment facility
    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and own transportation to travel between facilities
    • Ability to take initiative, performing as a self-starter with initiative and exceptional detail-oriented skills
    • Ability to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
    • Be able to perform all physical requirements of the job and work in a safe manner
    • Ability to pass the Industrial Power Truck licensing requirements
    • Must be willing and able to work any shift arrangement and overtime as needed
    • Basic knowledge of paper making and Lean Manufacturing Principals, desired
    • Effective root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills, desired
    • Obtain MA 3A Overhead Crane Operator license through next available Crane Hoisting Program
    • Within 3 months must:

      • Perform basic laboratory proficiencies
      • Operate and maintain the sludge processing facility
      • Operate and maintain Inline process probes and instruments

      Within 6 months must

      • Obtain HE-2C- Front End Loaders/Unloaders license

      Within one year must:

      • Obtain Grade III Massachusetts Waste Water Treatment Operators license
      • Obtain MA1C Hydraulic Crane/Forklift Operator license

     

    The person selected for this position will need to demonstrate suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust consistent with our US Government contract requirements.
