    As a Supply Chain Engineer with Crane Currency in Dalton, MA, you will play a lead role with an exciting, fast-growing organization known for innovative currency and banknote technology.     In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, aggregating, analyzing, and archiving supply chain data for supporting supply chain initiatives. These activities include but are not limited to spend analysis and management, cost-benefit analysis, commodity analysis, supplier performance management, corporate reporting, vendor negotiations, and other ad-hoc department analysis.


    Principal Responsibilities

    • Development and ongoing maintenance of US Government Products and global supply chain databases, analysis tools, and reports.  Prepare standard monthly reports.
    • Execution of a global supply chain strategy that supports Crane objectives for cost reduction, supplier OTD and lead times, supplier quality, and inventory reduction. This would include actions to rationalize the supply base, drive increased sourcing from low-cost sources, leveraging direct and indirect material/services spend with other Crane business units, and negotiating & implementing Long-Term Supplier Agreements.
    • Support Supply Chain team in obtaining competitive bids, analyzing costs, and negotiating contracts to vendors on the basis of total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
    • Assist in the proper setup, maintenance, and analysis of Crane Co. Spend Analysis Tool (SAT) and Zycus platforms. Audit ongoing compliance and data accuracy.
    • Perform global spend and value stream analysis to identify savings and process improvement opportunities, quantify the opportunities, work with cross-functional teams to create and execute action plans to realize the benefits, and track and publish the results.
    • Analyze and report on sourcing trends affecting our bottom line, including upcoming contract expirations, cost and variance analysis, market conditions, commodity trends, and economic indicators.
    • Develop methods to effectively monitor adherence to procurement strategies and policies.
    • Work with the Supplier Quality team to track supplier performance and incorporate supplier performance scores into the global supplier management process.
    • Consistent with Crane Business System, participate, facilitate, and lead Kaizen events that will eliminate waste, improve pull systems and deliver breakthrough results in Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost throughout the Supply Chain.
    • Engenders a spirit of cooperation throughout the Supply Chain team to ensure responsiveness to the customer.


    • BA/BS degree and two years experience. A masters degree in business or related field is desired.
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional global teams in a dynamic work environment.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to completion to meet deadlines.
    • Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc).
    • Strong knowledge of the supply chain with focus upon Purchasing, Supplier Development, and Cost Management.
    • Broad knowledge of key direct/indirect spend categories including, but not limited to: contract manufacturing, freight, MRO, IT, travel, energy/utilities and HR services.
    • Background with an emphasis on data mining and statistical review, forecasting and trend analysis, process reengineering, supply chain metrics, supplier scorecards, and financial cost benefit analyses is preferred.
    • Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired. 
    • Certification in APICS and/or ISM is desired.  
    • Strong negotiation and contract management skills are desired.
    • Willingness to travel 10%.
