We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team in Dalton, MA. In this position, you will play a critical role with an exciting organization known for innovative currency and banknote technology.  

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the our business goals and objectives.  You will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs of the equipment and systems pertaining to raw materials processing, papermaking equipment and paper converting equipment.  This includes preventative maintenance, trouble calls, emergency night calls and project work in all areas of manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 8 years’ experience in support services or production
  • 5+ years’ experience in Paper or Paper related industry preferred. 
  • Other industrial/mechanical experience may be considered in lieu of paper industry experience.
  • Ability to lead others in a group setting
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a teamwork environment with minimal direction.
  • Competent in basic mathematics
  • Effective time management
  • Effective communications skills with the ability to communicate both written and verbal
  • Solid troubleshooting, analytical, skills
  • Root cause failure analysis skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS Outlook, JD Edwards, MS Word, MS Excel)
  • Detailed, and organized, record keeping ability
  • Demonstrated understanding of the properties of equipment used for paper manufacturing and converting. Including but not limited to; pumps, electric motors, piping, gearing, fans, refiners, paper machine rolls, presses, dryers, etc

Required and demonstrated proficiency in the following;

  • Maintenance and repair of equipment used for paper manufacturing and converting. including but not limited to; pumps, electric motors, piping, gearing, fans, refiners, paper machine rolls, presses, dryers, etc.
  • Use of electric and gas operated welders (MIG, TIG, ARC)
  • Use of cutting torches and plasma cutting machines
  • Portable Welding Equipment (field setup and operation)
  • Perform in-field repairs to miscellaneous piping systems such as air, stock and process water
  • Maintenance fabrication including layout, welding, assembly and installation
  • Repair of hydraulic equipment
  • Test equipment for mechanical measurements, data collection and troubleshooting
  • Blueprint drawings, schematics and diagrams of mechanical components/systems
  • Hoisting and rigging equipment, methods and applications
  • Hand, power and machine tools and other installation/service equipment
  • Removal/Installation and setting of clearances of various types of bearings
  • Proficiency in all aspects of shaft and roll alignment technologies

 

The person selected for this position will need to demonstrate suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust consistent with our US Government contract requirements.
