We're looking for a Wet Lap Helper to join our team in Dalton, MA. In this position, you will play a critical role with an exciting organization known for innovative currency and banknote technology.  This is a rotating shift, entry-level position in the Raw Materials line of progression.


The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Wetlap Operator in the operation of the wetlap machine and related equipment so that production of refined fibrous material is maximized. The incumbent is responsible for the appearance of the wetlap room and must be willing to learn and assume the job of Wetlap Operator. The incumbent, with the help of supervision, must complete the Wetlap Helper's Training Plan prior to performing the job independently.

  • Assist the Wetlap Operator in threading the machine, changing, weighing, marking and storage of finished skids of material
  • Pat wetlap skids to ensure the proper skid weight and integrity is achieved
  • Ensure that there is an ample supply of sound skids available for use
  • Assist the Wetlap Operator on wash ups
  • Clean Wetlap Chest when notified by the operator
  • Safely operate a work saver truck and ensure it is charged
  • Maintain a clean work area that includes the wetlap room
  • Communicate problems to the other team members and supervision
  • Identify mechanical problems and take corrective action or notify supervision
  • Adhere to all required operating procedures and manufacturing run sheets
  • Perform any other duties requested by supervisor
  • Complete any required training
  • Willing to learn the job of Wetlap Operator and fill in for when needed

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial experience, preferred
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to use and read a ruler
  • Ability to understand and follow operating/safe job procedures
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an internal hoisting certificate
  • Ability to read, write, keep neat and accurate records, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Be able to perform all physical requirements of the job and work in a safe manner
  • Ability to fully understand the quality requirements of Crane & Co. products, and his/her role in ensuring this quality
  • Ability to pass the Industrial Power Truck licensing requirements
  • Must be willing and able to work at any Company location as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift arrangement and overtime as needed
